"I am the Educational Leader of a culturally and socio-economically diverse long day care service. I reached out to Jaime when I felt that my team and I needed trauma-informed practice training to best support and assist the young people in our care. Before the workshop, Jaime walked through our working environment and provided a comprehensive plan with strategies to ensure our young people were in an area with a haven. He identified areas that required work and offered his advice and input about specific strategies we currently use for certain young people in our care. Having an expert in this field of work who can come to our working environment and provide face-to-face guidance is invaluable. Jaime identified possible triggers in our settings that we would have otherwise overlooked. During the presentation, Jaime was respectful and approachable - our team was comfortable asking Child Trauma specific questions that Jaime could clarify and guide the group through many different strategies. One strategy: "Catch Them Being Good," is still used today. His delivery was knowledgeable while being sensitive to certain subjects. Jaime has a great persona and is easily relatable to people from all walks of life. The attendees left with a wealth of knowledge. The feedback was unanimous - We, as attendees of Jaime's workshop, had many 'lightbulb' moments, lamented, and some even shed a tear - but we all left that night with a wealth of new knowledge about Child Informed Trauma and feeling empowered to support our most vulnerable children in our community and care. Resources and links to further learning were provided after the presentation. We still refer to these resources today, as they are relevant to everyday work."
